To prevent the spine from bending in stomach sleepers, the pelvic setting should also be adjusted to be softer.

Adjusting the slatted frame for side sleepers

For a side sleeper, the hips and shoulders should sink slightly into the mattress. This keeps the spine in a horizontal position and prevents twisting. Adjust the slatted frame to be a bit firmer in this area. If you lie too soft, the mattress and slatted frame do not fulfill their supportive function. Also, adjust the suspension of the slatted frame to your body weight. If two people are lying on the mattress, especially the middle zone must be adjusted using the sliders. The correct setting depends on the system of the slatted frames. Most frames become firmer with the sliders moved outward. If the sliders are closer to the center, the spring slats become softer. In this case, the mattress should definitely be a multi-zone mattress. It additionally supports your lying position along with the slatted frame.

Back sleepers: Adjustment on the slatted frame

Back sleepers require a slatted frame with reinforcement in the central zone. Here, additional slats are installed to optimally absorb the weight of the pelvis. Additionally, the slats should be slightly curved so that the back does not sag and is well supported. With a slatted frame that has adjustable height zones, you slightly raise the foot end. Back sleepers rarely change their sleeping position at night and thus have their legs positioned a bit higher.

Adjusting the slatted frame for stomach sleepers

A slatted frame must have a firm central zone for stomach sleepers. This prevents the back from sagging and helps avoid a hollow back. Here, the curvature of the slats is also beneficial. They prevent the pelvis from sinking too deeply. In combination with the right mattress and the slatted frame, stomach sleepers need a very flat pillow. This way, you do not overstretch the cervical spine, which could otherwise lead to additional tension. Experts recommend a mattress with a variable firmness level and a point-elastic, but not too firm surface for this sleeping position.
